More Than a Century of Community Service

The Fry Family YMCA, YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, and YMCA Safe ‘n Sound program are proud to be a part of and support the Naperville community. We are committed to strengthening the Naperville community by connecting all people to their purpose, potential, and each other through our programs and services such as child care, sports and recreation, academic enrichment, and more.

For 112 years, the Kroehler Y served as a place for care, fitness, fun, and community. While the facility no longer exists, we continually strive to replicate the impact and legacy of the former Kroehler YMCA had in the development of Naperville.

The YMCA and the Naperville Park District have a long and meaningful history of cooperation that has benefitted the community. The collaboration between these institutions has strengthened the social fabric of Naperville and remains a model for how community organizations can work together for the greater good.

Building Community

The YMCA has been a cornerstone of the community for over 100 years, and its operations pre-date when the Naperville Park District was established. For decades, both organizations have worked together, respecting their unique missions while avoiding overlap in services and facilities.

A memorable and concrete example of this partnership came together years ago when they worked together to host a Christmas Eve luncheon for individuals in the community who had no place to go during the holidays. This event still occurs today and more information, including on how you can support the event, is available here.

Creating and sustaining this important event speaks to the shared values of service, compassion, and inclusion that define both organizations.
